Phones are common nowadays. My journey with smartphone started very early -- way back in 2011. Here's a list of phones I've used and my thoughts on them.

Sony Ericsson WT19i

Also called "Live with Walkman". Terrible name for a phone, I know. WT19i was my very first smartphone.

I still remember the day I got it. It was a evening during the weekends, I followed my parents to a mall at the city center (when it still had the crowd suitable to be called the city center). I picked it among 4 or 5 other smartphones because it looked really unique.

I picked the white one, and with a carrier deal I got it for free. When I went home, I carefully took it out of the box and started playing with it.

WT19i had a 3.2" TFT 480p display, 2G of RAM, and a 5MP camera. Not the best even during those days. However I loved it! It's so small it fit comfortable in my small hand. It had great speakers and a dedicated music button on top, right next to the power button. I took it everywhere, played games on it, tweaked it by installing other android skins on it, it was a lot of fun. Of course, young me was quick to get tired of it.

MI 2S

MI 2S was an amazing phone for its price, which was about CAD$ 400. It had the best processor on the market, a nice camera, a display better than the iPhone 4's, and MIUI -- the most appealing android UI. I would go on and use the phone for 4 years, and in fact, it still works perfectly today.

Nokia 225

My parents were worried about how much time I spent on my phone, so they got me this feature phone -- the Nokia 225 in bright yellow, an iconic nokia colour. I remember the Lumia series was all the rage back then. Of course as a feature phone, there wasn't a lot it can do, so I hated it. However the design was very modern, and it was nice to hold. Sometimes I miss it.

OnePlus 2

This was a massive upgrade. All-metal build, a naturally contoured back to fit my hand, one of the first phones to use USB-C, a big gorgeous display, LTE support, finger print reader... It was so so good. The only thing I didn't like about it was the camera module design, its tendency to overheat, and its weight.

Huawei P40

The phone looks nice, but the display was not very accurate in colour and the system (EMUI) was very laggy and slow. The camera was average. I did not like this phone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Probably the best phone I've ever used. I took so many amazing pictures with its camera and the OLED display was breathtaking. Too bad we all know what happened to it.

iPhone 7

I used to look down on iPhone because they can't compete with Androids of the same price in specs, but it wasn't until I started using the iPhone that I realized specs is not everything. There wasn't a thing that made it stand out, however it was still a very nice phone.

Samsung Galaxy S8

I was hoping that I could get a phone that's as good as Note 7, but I was wrong. It felt like a downgrade.

iPhone X

This phone made me happy. The design was fabulous. Same width bezels all around, round stainless steel frame, clean back, new gestures, all are very good. The battery on the first one became a spicy pillow :( but I went to the apple store and they gave me a new one on the spot :) oh I miss 3D touch.

OnePlus 6

The OLED display was poorly calibrated, and the system was often laggy. Even though it felt nice in the hand, I did not enjoy using it.

iPhone XS Max

Loved it, although it was too big. This was the last phone I had with 3D touch, and I still miss it up to this day.

Sony Xperia 1 Mk.I

This phone was gorgeous! It feels smooth and premium, like a well-polished slab of white jade. Unfortunately the software was too "pure". It's basically stock android with even less customizability than normal. The hardware was amazing but the software was lackluster.

iPhone 12 Pro

Pretty much the same thing as the XS Max except shinier.

Sony Xperia 1 Mk.III

The hardware was even better and the software was disappointingly the same.

iPhone 13 mini

Tied with Note 7 for the best phones I've ever used. This one was good in a way that you just don't think about it when you're using it. It did everything I need it to do and never once was I frustrated about it.

iPhone 15 Pro

Current use. Although I wish it was slightly smaller I don't see myself switching anytime soon.
